Wayne Almor Fox was born on March 27, 1947 in Nipawin, SK to Almor & Doris Fox. He grew up in the Torch River District and lived his whole life on the family farm. He attended school in Torch River and White Fox. Instead of finishing high school he chose to go to work at the age of 16 for the King Brothers doing bush work.
Wayne married Roseanna Torwalt on April 18, 1970. Together they had two daughters- Michelle & Lorraine.
Wayne did many jobs over the years including bush work, farming, planting trees, gold mining in the Yukon and raising cattle and bison. All these jobs were done with Rose working right alongside of him. The job he enjoyed the most was logging with his 1967 John Deere skidder, which he first purchased with his brother in law Steve. Whether it was skidding logs to the saw mill or skidding firewood that is where he was happiest. He couldn’t wait for freeze up so he could haul the JD to the bush and get some trees in the landing.
Wayne enjoyed all sports but hockey was his favorite. One winter he played on three different teams and played a total of 65 games that season. If he wasn’t playing hockey, he was watching it either at the rink or on TV.
In 1990 Wayne and Rose purchased miniature horses. These little animals brought much joy to them and Wayne was always proud to show them off in the Nipawin Parade.
He and Rose enjoyed travelling with trips to Dawson City, Cuba, Florida, California and Texas but their favorite place to go was Las Vegas. They also went on several bus trips. On one trip Wayne saved the day by fixing the broken-down bus with a piece of barbed wire from an old fence.
Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always interested in what they were doing and what was happening in their lives and if anyone needed a helping hand, he was there. He liked going to auction sales as that was a great place to catch up on local news and have a Pepsi and piece of pie with a neighbor.
Wayne had an amazing laugh and if you heard it you couldn’t help but smile. It just made you feel happy!!
He was predeceased by his parents, Almor and Doris; his father and mother in law, Oscar and Erna Torwalt; his brother in law, Steve Green and sister in law, Maryanna Burton.
