Henry Edward Boxall, eldest son of William and Sarah (Campbell) Boxall was born on October 26, 1927, on his parent’s farm east of the community of Armley, Saskatchewan. He attended a country school for his junior years and graduated from Tisdale High School. Following high school he attended Saskatoon Technical Collegiate and the College of Agriculture, University of Saskatchewan, before returning to assist his father and brothers with the farm operation.
Henry married Audrey Brisbin October 13, 1952. To this union were born 5 children – Bruce Edward, Beverley Dawn, Robert Keith, Lesley Gail and Valerie Faye. The family lived on the farm west of Pontrilas.
On September 3, 1977, Henry married Anne Haskey and they continued to live on the farm he loved.
Henry was community minded. He served as president of the Nipawin Music Festival, and the Nipawin Agriculture Society, The Codette United Church Board, and the Nipawin Elks Lodge (50 year member) and served as Exalted Ruler of #251. Henry loved to sing and could be heard throughout the day humming, singing or whistling. He was a member of the Codette and Nipawin United Church choirs and the Singing Pines. He also served as a partner in Lakeside Power Sales.
Henry was a man of the land and passionate about farming. He delighted in the smell of freshly tilled soil in the spring of the year, the beauty of newly planted seeds pushing their way through the ground and the grain fields waving in the wind. He was interested in experimenting with new varieties of grains which brought him recognition at the Canadian Western Agribition. He valued hard work and education. He was a voracious reader, always seeking information on newly-developing agricultural techniques.
