Dennis was born August 7, 1955 the eldest of five children born to Nick and Jean Kozun. He was raised on the farm and farming later became his life’s work.
Dennis married Gloria Vilcu and together they were blessed with three children Brad, Erin and Liane. Dennis was his children’s greatest supporter. He was so proud of all their accomplishments and of the adults they have become.
On July 7, 2000 Dennis married Debbie Pihowich and welcomed her three children into his life.
Dennis was a great father and a wonderful gido. He treasured the times he spent with his family and had a special place in his heart for each one of his grandchildren.
Dennis had a deep love of God, his church and the Sts. Peter and Paul parish members. He was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and was happy to share it with anyone. He was especially happy that even after his parents passed away, he and his siblings and all their families still gathered together to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas. This tradition was so important to him and we will all miss Dennis leading the Lord’s Prayer and singing Christmas carols. Dennis and Debbie took part in Malanka, and made numerous trips to Dauphin, MB to attend the Ukrainian festival there.
Dennis was passionate about farming and taking care of the land. Harvest was one of his most favorite times of year; seeing the fruits of his labour, and working alongside his family to get the crop off. Harvest was a time of year that drew his family back home.
Dennis enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing cards. Dennis and Debbie took numerous trips to Mexico together and formed many lasting friendships with couples they met there. He was a lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs; every year saying, “this is the year they win the cup!” He liked a good joke and had a great sense of humour.
Dennis’ generous ways, zest for life and twinkle in his eye will be greatly missed by everyone who had the fortune to be a part of his life.
Dennis leaves to treasure his memory his wife Debbie, son Brad (Jae) and grandchildren: Emily, Shayla and Nolan, daughter Erin Kozun, daughter Liane (Curtis Day) and grandson Zachary, Kayleb (Traci) Slater and granddaughters Nevaeh and Reyna,Keaton Slater and grandson Kenyon and Kay Anna Slater. Also left to mourn his passing is his brothers: Merle (Lorrie), Andy (Helen) and Lionel (Cheryl), sister Carolyn (Dave), mother-in-law Sally Pihowich, sister-in-law Adria Roller (Laura), as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
