Marvin Hesla Olson was born March 10, 1935 to Oliver and Ida Olson in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He was the youngest of five boys. When Marvin was two, the family relocated to Ratner. He attended school in Sand Hill Creek, Regina and Nipawin.
On November 8, 1958 he married Marjorie Tasa. They lived on the family farm, eventually moving the house to its current location where they lived until 2017 when they bought their house in Nipawin.
In 1960 Sharlene was born. Sharyl followed in 1962, and Kelly in 1963. Through these years Marvin and Marjorie were foster parents to many children. In 1967, one of these children stole their hearts, and Steven completed their family.
Marvin enjoyed many sports including baseball, waterskiing, golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting and curling. Camping with his family was one of the summer highlights.
Marvin always worked hard to build the family farm. But come winter, he could be found at a curling rink. Marvin curled into his late seventies. Even then he could slide from one end of a sheet of ice to the other. There were many family curling teams formed over the years.
As the children grew, Marvin and Marj could always be found supporting them at their events. This continued with their grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In the early morning hours of June 1st, Marvin peacefully passed away with his family at his side.
