Frank was born August 22, 1930 at NW-5-48-10 W2, on the original homestead. He was the second oldest son of Mike and Julie Kapeller of Connell Creek. Frank attended school in Connell Creek and later went to Arborfield, where he and his brother George shared bachelor quarters while attending high school. This is where Frank would meet his future wife, Betty.
Frank bought grain for the United Grain Growers in Meath Park for a year and worked one winter for the Eldorado Mining Company in Uranium City. In 1948, he formed a farming partnership with his brother, Henry, which continued for well over twenty years.
Frank married Betty Bryden on June 19, 1954 and they settled on the old Del Allard place, where Betty still lives. Frank and Betty had four sons: Dave, Ron, Steven (deceased as an infant) and Kevin. While the boys were growing up, Frank became very active in minor hockey and enjoyed coaching various teams like the Beginners, Tom Thumbs, Pee Wees and Bantams. Frank served on several committees and was the president of the Arborfield Dehy Board of Directors for a time.
In 1969, Frank obtained his private pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying to northern lakes, especially Namew, where he owned a cabin. He formed a partnership with Larry Stevenson in a fly-in fishing facility called Thunderbird Camps, based in Pelican Narrows. This provided him with many opportunities for flying in northern Saskatchewan. Frank was so pleased when Dave and Kevin, as well as his grandson Jordan, developed a love for flying and also obtained their pilot’s licenses.
Frank is predeceased by his parents- Mike and Julie, brothers- George and Henry, infant son – Steven, and grandson –Marlin.
