Wilfrid Laurent Carpentier passed away July 14, 2018 at the Tisdale Hospital at the age of 94. Wilfrid was born on the Sec.1, Tp.47, Rge.13, W2 (RM of Connaught) in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan on September 7, 1923. He was predeceased by his wife Claire, parents Louis and Clara, sisters Marguerite and Gertrude and brother Leonard.
As a young man, Dad worked in the bush camps for eleven years in Saskatchewan, Ontario and British Columbia. In 1951 he married Mom and they built a house in the same yard as his parents; the same place he was born. He started farming full time in 1957 up until the late 1990’s.
Dad was an active member on local boards including the Credit Union, Hospital Board, School Board, Phone Company and Parkland Dehy for numerous years. He and other neighbours helped build the power line.
During their retirement years, Dad enjoyed traveling south for the winters with Mom for many years and loved golfing till last year – especially bringing his dog Chip along with him for the ride. After slowing down from farming, they moved to Tisdale. He enjoyed socializing with many friends at the Golden Age Senior Centre. Dad pursued his woodworking hobby, building many treasures and cherished items for his children and grandchildren. In more recent years, Dad enjoyed living at Caleb Village. He was always very appreciative of receiving help and visits from friends and family.
Left to mourn his passing and to keep him alive in their hearts are his five children: Norbert (Alice) of Zenon Park, René (Bernice) of Regina, Bernard (Mary) of Zenon Park, Jacqueline (Doug Anderson) of Saskatoon and Lise (Rick Strykowski) of Tisdale/Preeceville; 11 grandchildren: Douglas Carpentier, Michel (Emily Ching) Carpentier, Réjean Carpentier, Andrée (Jordan Boesch), Jennifer (Colin Tanner), Natalie (Kelvin Gray), Emma (Sheldon Zerr), Patrick (Carissa) Carpentier, Jeremy (Logan) Anderson, Louise Anderson (Jeremy Crickard), Faye Anderson (Brant Rumpel);
15 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Cécile Hunt and Jeanne Sirois; in-laws: Marlene Carpentier, Hélène Patenaude, Bernadette Pagé, Angèle Bjorgaard (Bob Hamilton), Colleen Patenaude, Léo (Elaine) Patenaude and numerous nephews and nieces, and his beloved dog Chip. We are going to miss you Dad.
