Selena Rose Young was born on September 30, 1957 to Horace and Hannah Kitchener at Carrot River. She suddenly passed away at her house on January18, 2020. She went home peacefully to her parents and her daughter.
Selena Rose was a very kind and loving person to be around. She was a hard-working woman and would always find something to do such as cleaning up and washing clothes. Selena Rose enjoyed raising her grandchildren as her own and she adopted so many children and also adults. Selena Rose was always willing to help anyone who needed help. She reached out to people who she knew that wanted help in the kitchen and enjoyed preparing traditional food with her family and friends. Selena Rose was the Queen for the elders Winter Festival in 2018. She had a special way of greeting people with the nicknames she gave them. Selena Rose was selected to go on a trip to Edmonton Elders Gathering with three communities. She was open to share stories of history and her childhood days. Selena Rose had a heart full of love and always had something to give to others. Selena Rose had a strong personality and would defend or support the leadership. She would quote, “If you point fingers at others, remember you have three fingers pointing back at you.”
Selena Rose leaves to treasure her memories to her husband: Stanley Young her children: Edrick, Alfred (Edie), Ramona (Mark), Carolee, Realene Y, Donald (Lindsay), and Robert Young her adopted children:, Cynthia L, Ermaline (Ron) Y, Amy (Willie) Y, Violet (Ben) WC, Myra (Willard) B, Alicia H (Dave R), Ernestine (Eric) C, Lucy (Dave) WC, Cornelda K, Dexter (Donna) N, Vernon N, Richard H ( Tena K), Keith (Stephanie) H, Edgar K, Rod (Myra) K, Sidney (Vanessa) K, Rhea (Clifford) C, Samson, Timothy Y, Curtis (Nora) K, Pearline M, Kingston and Princeton Y. her siblings: Earl Kitchener, Patric (Eldeen), Marna Jobb and Adelaide Kitchener. Her in-laws: Russel and Joseph Young, special sister: Arabella Nawakayas and many nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.
