Myrtle passed away peacefully at the Nipawin Hospital on April 24th, 2018 with family by her side.
Myrtle was born in Nipawin on March 30, 1929. She was the youngest child of five to Gordon and Gladys Parkinson. She grew up in the Moose Plains district, but moved to Nipawin to finish high school and work.
She married Walter Arnst on June 30th, 1953. She moved back to the Moose Plains area where she lived until she passed away. Myrtle and Walter raised two sons, Phil and Larry.
Myrtle was a farmer’s wife and true home maker. She was skilled in the kitchen with cooking and baking, and spent her summers in the garden to ensure preserves for the winter. She excelled at her hobbies of sewing, knitting, and embroidery and leaves many beautiful, treasured keepsakes. She took great joy in caring for her grandchildren as they grew up.
In 1990 Myrtle took a memorable trip to England with her lifelong friend Joyce Adamson. They toured London and the English countryside exploring their roots.
She was active in the Moose Plains community with dances, picnics, and Christmas parties, which she enjoyed recently with her great grandsons Sawyer and Finn.
Myrtle was predeceased by her husband Walter and siblings Gordon, Vern, Chester, and Edna.
She is survived by sons Phil, Larry (Debbie), and grandchildren Jennifer (Devin) sons Sawyer and Finn, Krysta (Kurtis), Erin, Monty (Tasha) daughters Emma and Mila.
