Winnifred Christine Anderson was born March 31, 1923. She passed away April 20, 2017.
Winnifred was the daughter of Albert and Helga Anderson. She was raised on the family farm east of Fosston, SK and attended school in Fosston and college in Regina.
Winnifred had a strong faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She attended her church faithfully. Winnifred followed in her Mother’s profession of teaching. She taught school at several places in Saskatchewan and for 13 years she worked at Simpson Sears in Regina doing office work. While living in Regina, Winnifred took her cousin, Frances Haugan under her care. Through their church Frances met her future husband Guy English. Winnifred was proud to sew Frances’s wedding dress on her old Singer sewing machine which she gave to Frances when she went into Pineview Lodge. Their relationship was always strong.
Winnifred settled in her home in Nipawin and returned to teaching in Arborfield for 24 years and always taught Grade 5. She stayed in Arborfield during the week and came home on the weekends. She kept all her student’s cards from the many years that she taught.
Winnifred loved being in her home and working in her yard. She loved nature’s beauty, birds, shells, flowers, etc. and collecting samples of them. Another hobby was her workmanship with needlepoint. She loved helping people – visiting them in the hospital and nursing home and picking them up for church. She received an award for Community Service. She loved to travel, making 2 trips to the Holy Land, Butchart Gardens and various other places. She loved children and at Pineview Lodge she never missed the children’s programs on Mondays.
Left to mourn is her 2 brothers Edsel and Dinal, niece Valerie (Trenton Wilton), nephews Melvin and Sydney and many great nieces and nephews. Winnifred was predeceased by her Mother Helga, Dad Albert, sister Viola and sister-in-law Betty.
Winnifred’s brothers Edsel and Dinal, family and friends would like to thank
Alex and Carm Moroz for their dedicated care, help and guardianship for Winnifred during her transition from her home to Jubilee Place and then into Pineview Lodge. Winnifred was very grateful to God for their wonderful and timely help. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
