Nellie Rudy was born on November 22, 1919 to George and Dora Wolowidnyk at Parkerview, SK. She was the oldest of five children.
Nellie married Peter Rudy in 1938 and shortly after they moved to the Carrot River area where they raised four children – Steven, Natalie, Walter and Elaine. They started their life together running a sawmill and mixed farming. She milked many cows and made deliveries of farm products to customers.
Mom was an amazing cook and many meals were shared with family, friends and customers who came to the welding shop.
Mom was an active member of the Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Codette) for over 70 years and sang in the church choir. She also served as president for several years with the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada Olena Pchilka Branch.
Many happy hours were spent playing cards and socializing. She loved to participate in activities such as bowling, curling and bingo.
Mom moved to Cedar Manor in 1991 and lived there until 2014. She then moved to Pineview Lodge and resided there until her passing.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, her parents and brothers John and Nick.
She leaves to treasure her memory all her children: Steven (Mary), Natalie (Walter), Walter (Gloria) and Elaine (Frank) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Also surviving are sister Marianna Lowid and brother Martin Wolowidnyk.
