Irene (Rene) Margaret Gray, 93 years, passed peacefully October 10, 2020 at Preston Extendicare, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. At her request, there will be no funeral. Our comfort is believing she is with her beloved husband Bud and her brothers and sisters.
Irene married Hugh (Bud) Gray January 4, 1951, in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. The Grays farmed land in Nasby, then moved to the Aylsham area in 1963.
Irene was very busy in the community. She attended The United Church, was a member of the church choir, and devoted time to the UCW. Her love was growing her gardens and planting her flowers. While involved with the horticultural society, she won countless awards for her vegetables and baking at local fairs.
She was always busy with family, a daughter and four boys. She stayed busy in the winter helping the Aylsham Figure Skating Club sew costumes. The boys all played hockey and Irene would like to watch them play. Summer getaways were enjoyed at Candle Lake.
Irene had many other talents which kept her busy throughout the years.
She is survived by her children Wayne (Debbie), Lorrie (Peter), Murray (Ferris), Leslie (Carla), Barry (Darlene).
Grandchildren – Michael (Shauna), Kristy (Kevin), Josef (Jessica), Scott (Kim), Justin (Ashley), Alison, Adam (Jillian), Alyssa (Neil), Kyle, Colin.
Great Grand Children - Aidan, Matilda, Lilly, Harper, Blayke, Andrew,
Frank, Presley, Nolan.
Irene is survived by one brother Gordon (Scheila) Retzlaff, and sister-in-law Edna (Arnie) Brown.
The family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare in Saskatoon as well as the Pineview Lodge in Nipawin for all their kindness in looking after Irene while she lived there.
