• Jessie Mary Ann Gade was born at Meyronne, Saskatchewan on March 16, 1925 to parents David and Anna Thomson. Jessie passed away February 19, 2021 at the Carrot River Health Centre where she had resided since December 9, 2020.
Jessie grew up with one older sister Grace Isabell. She took some of her schooling at the Pine Torch School. In 1934 she moved with her parents from Meyronne to White Fox, where they lived before moving to the homestead north of Garrick. Jessie only had a grade four education.

On December 2, 1957 in a church with no heat, Jessie married Harry Gade. Sadly, Jessie and Harry suffered the loss of their first child before birth. On October 7, 1961 they welcomed into the world their baby girl Shirley. On December 21, 2001, Jessie would once again endure the loss of a child, when Shirley passed away suddenly from meningitis.

Jessie and Harry lived north of Garrick until 1981 when they sold their farm and moved into Nipawin. Jessie loved to square dance and she and Harry were a part of the Northern Swingers. They spent many years travelling around to dances. Jessie was always on the go; she enjoyed going for walks, playing bingo, playing cards, listening to old time music, blueberry picking and visiting with old and new friends. She always had a garden and at the age of 95 she still made her way outside to tend to it the best that she could. She would often say, “I am doing pretty good for my age.” Jessie was a strong, outspoken lady who was determined to be as independent for as long as she could.

Jessie lived in the home she and Harry had bought in Nipawin with her grandson Kevin up until October 30, 2020 when she suffered a fractured hip. Jessie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She would always make time for a phone call or a visit, and before you could leave she would ask, “When will you be back to visit me again?” Jessie had a love for animals, especially cats. She spent hours watching and feeding the birds outside her house and would never pass up the opportunity to go for a drive in the country where she would often reminisce on old times.

Jessie is survived by her five grandchildren: Michelle Lyne (1984), Kimberley Jean (1986) (Noel), Kevin Daniel (1989), Carol Ann (1992), Christopher Harry (1993) (Lianne) and nine great grandchildren: Hailey Elizabeth (2005), Derrick Lamen (2008), Elly May (2015), Jackson Henry Archibald (2016), Sierra Leann (2007), Jesanna Lea (2009), Riley Allen (2011), Zack Daniel (2014), Alex Peter (2016), nieces and nephews, Eleanor (Joe), Darlene, and David (Lorraine), as well as family in Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Denmark.

Jessie was predeceased by her parents David and Anna, her sister Grace Ladd, her husband Harry, her unborn baby and her daughter Shirley.

She will forever be loved and missed by her family and friends
