Loretta Rosalia (Duford) Scott was born in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on November 21, 1922 to Jerry and Annie Duford. She lived with her parents on a farm at Bruno until they moved their farming operation to the Armley District in 1928. Loretta spent many happy years on the farm with her sister Eileen and brothers Wilfred, Clarence and Bert. She attended a one room school called Manlius that was located on the northwest corner of their home quarter. After completing schooling at 16 Loretta began working at various jobs including a cook at the old Nipawin Hospital and a grocery clerk in Nipawin. It was while working at the grocery store that she met Vernon. On November 3, 1948 Loretta and Vernon were married and began their life together on Vernon’s family farm. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children, Cathy, Don, Larry and Tim. Life was busy with raising a family, growing a big garden, visiting friends and family. After Vernon passed away in 1983, Loretta moved into Nipawin to her house on Maple Road where she had her beautiful pink petunia beds. She kept busy with her grandkids, friends, Dairy Queen for lunch with Cathy just about every day. Her cookie jar always had a variety of cookies in it, the favorite of everyone’s being her chocolate chip. As time passed the house and yard became too much and Loretta moved into Aspen Grove where she continued enjoying life. When Loretta’s memory began to decline it was time for yet another move to Pasquia Place in Carrot River where she gained new life with the care of Lori, “her girl”. In March of this year Loretta moved into Pineview Lodge as her health started to decline.
Loretta cherished her family and was always glad for a visit or a phone call. Her family was her number one pride. She had many great friends over the years and became a favorite of her care givers with her little smile and quick teasing.
Loretta was predeceased by her husband Vernon, siblings Wilfred, Eileen, Clarence and Bert, one grandchild, Sheila and one great grandchild Kyle.
Loretta will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Cathy (Leonard), son Don (Paulette), son Larry (Shelly), and son Tim (Pat), eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
