Inez Irene Ulvick, eldest daughter of Roy and Elsie Lanz, was born in Nipawin on June 6th, 1930. She passed away May 5th, 2018 at Pineview Nursing Home with her family by her side.
Codette had always been home to Inez. She attended Codette School from grade 1 through 12. After graduating Inez worked at the Codette Co-op and within a few years she was introduced to her husband.
Inez married Lloyd Ulvick in 1950 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage together. They had 3 children, Vernon Roy, Kenneth Lloyd and Donna Lea.
The family lived in Nipawin for 9 years. They then moved back to Codette where Inez once again worked for the Co-op for the next 12 years. In 1972 they moved to Leaf Rapids, Manitoba. While living there Inez took a position at the post office and was an avid curler. Returning again to Codette, Inez and Lloyd owned the Ulvick Service Station. Then in 1980 and for the next 10 years, they were campground attendants at Lower Fishing Lake.
In their retirement Inez and Lloyd travelled extensively; driving across Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. They also toured down through the United States for many years.
Inez was creative. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching and she always had a puzzle on the go. For years she kept a daily diary which was a reference book to the family for memories of the past and of course the weather was always recorded. She kept scrapbooks of her 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren’s activities, from sporting events to dance recitals over the years.
Inez belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #120.
Inez’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at Pineview Lodge for the excellent care they provided. They all enjoyed her sense of humour and her quick wit to brighten their day.
Inez is survived by her son Vern (Jennifer), daughter Donna Lea (David), sister Karen (Julian) and Rayann Ulvick. Her 6 grandchildren: Debra, Lorie (Chris), Carrie (Mark), Kelly (Larry), Melanie (Tony), Bradie (Jocelyn); great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kennedy, Macy, Braydon, Tyson, Jayda, Brynn, Brooke, Jessa, Harlow and Emily.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd and son Ken.
