Luke Kingsley Mckay was born on March 28, 2004 at 10:45 a.m. at Nipawin Union Hospital to his loving parents Jody and Rosalene Mckay. He passed away suddenly on April 20, 2017 surrounded by his family, friends and the Health staff. Luke was currently attending school in Grade Seven at the John William Head Memorial Education Centre Junior High School. He received Best Attendance awards, served as SRC Classroom Representative, participated in the Fine Arts Festivals and received a Sportsmanship Award because he was a good athlete in sports. He was playing hockey with the Red Earth Peewee Hawks at the time of his passing. Hockey was Luke’s passion and he was good at it. He played in an indoor soccer tournament in Prince Albert with the Red Earth Hawks, where they took First Place and brought home a medal. His hobbies were fishing, facebooking, listening to music, playing card games, walking around and visiting his friends who are all mentioned as honorary pallbearers. He had a sense of humor, and always had a smile on his face. His favourite NHL Hockey team that he would cheer for along with his parents was the New York Rangers. He had many nicknames including Monster, Baby Balla, Luke Skywalker, Duke and Spooks.
Luke was a child who loved to help with chores around the house. He would help his mom set up the table for breakfast, dinner or supper and he would help his dad with the cooking. He was always the first one to wake up and make coffee for his parents and he never forget to tell his parents and siblings, “I Love You” before going out or going to bed.
He loved to spend time with his childhood friends (Reezon, Daniel, Cage, Garrick and Elliot) and whenever they got together they had a great time. He liked doing things with his family such as camping, swimming at Tobin Lake, or hunting with his dad.
