Our dear Mom passed away at the age of 88 on July 17th, at the Trinity Care Centre in Penticton, BC. She endured many medical issues over the past five years with much strength and determination and fought valiantly to the end.
Mom was born in Turtleford and raised on farm in the surrounding area. After graduating from high school, she moved to Saskatoon and undertook training to become a registered nurse at the Saskatoon City Hospital. For many years, Mom worked at the Nipawin Hospital where her dedication and nursing skills were greatly appreciated.
In 1951, Mom married Richard (Dick) Armstrong. They farmed and raised their family in the Aylsham/Nipawin area surrounded by many other hardworking and loyal neighbours. Shortly following Dick’s sudden passing, Mom relocated to Penticton, but she never lost her keen interest in the farming operation or her love of Saskatchewan.
Mom enjoyed hobbies/interests including: curling, playing cards, dancing, gardening and landscaping. She was involved in the community, Kinettes and her local church. Mom had a strong faith and cherished her family and friends, loved her pets dearly and was always grateful for the Earth’s beauty.
As a devoted and proud mother, Audrey leaves behind three sons- Gary Armstrong (Donna), Nile Armstrong (Janice), Mark Armstrong, two daughters – Sue Nickel (Frank) and Lyndi Pedersen, grandchildren – Jae Armstrong (Sloane), Chase Nickel (Alycia), Cameron Armstrong (Danielle), Brooks Nickel, Jade Pedersen (Mark), Tanner Armstrong, Kerstyn Liddle (Jack) and two great grandchildren – Essie and Myla.
Mom will live in our hearts
as we remember her many strong virtues-
hard worker, organized, kind, honest, loving and loyal.
We will miss her dearly.
Thank you to the staff at Trinity Care Centre for your compassion
and care of Mom.
