In loving memory of Jamie Nicole Carriere whom went home to the Creator on Friday, July 26, 2019 in Edmonton at the age of 27 years old.
Born on March 16, 1992 in the St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Delphy Carriere and Rick Chaboyer. She was the youngest of four. Jamie was the sweetest daughter, sister, cousin and friend. She was the most selfless person, always willing to sacrifice her own to help anyone in need.
Jamie lived in Prince Albert, Regina, North Battleford, Yorkton, Vancouver, Prince George, and Edmonton. She got to see different places and building relationships throughout Canada.
Jamie was an Entrepreneur, well known Model, Singer, Actress, Dancer and self-taught DJ and Producer. She was known in the community as DJ Rebellion. Jamie was an Advocate, Influencer and Mentor to many. She had a passion for building the Indigenous community. She loved and was a self-taught photographer, makeup artist and more recently launched her vlog YouTube channel.
Jamie was a fun and genuine person who loved to laugh, was known to light up the room. Some say, not only when she was around, she brought hope! but people told her she was a true triple threat. She loved to sing & dance. She had a natural gift of enlightening, inspiring and empowering those around her. She had insatiable style and outgoing personality. Music was her passion and she had plans to pursue a career in music production as a DJ; she was very ambitious and spent a lot of time on her music and to accomplish her big dreams.
Jamie performed at the Indigenous Western Canadian Fashion Week, the Pink Party at the Gathering of Nations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Monthly at the Indigenous Woman’s Business Panel and performed at the Aboriginal Women’s Professional Association and Mobilize fashion shows. Jamie was so honored to work with and for Indigenous Designers and model their work.
Jamie married at the age of 20 and had one daughter Jahmya Carriere. Jamie cherished every minute as a mother, as she loved her daughter unconditionally, calling it, “The Real Love”, Jahmya was her most prized possession. And believed that carrying on culture and standing in leadership fulfilling our ancestors’ dreams was our responsibility.
Jamie Nicole Carriere was from Cumberland House Cree Nation. She will be forever remembered by her daughter Jahmya Pooyak. Jamie was survived by her mother Del Carriere, Father Richard Chaboyer. Her sister Ger & Robin, her brother Chad, and half-brothers Ethan & Keith and Keenan. Along with her numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, friends & extended Carriere & Chaboyer families.
