Evan Davies passed away peacefully on July 21, 2019 at Pineview Lodge in Nipawin, Saskatchewan at the age of 84. Evan was born in Smeaton, Saskatchewan at midnight on August 31st/September 1st, 1934 to Martha Rose (nee Norris) and Willis Davies, the first of their nine children. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother William and sister-in-law Judith, and brothers-in-law Elmer Erickson, Wayne Debler, and Eugene Sarrasin. He is mourned by wife Diane (nee Wilcox), daughter Mary Deminion, sisters Dorothy (Horace) Newman, Cleila Erickson, Deanna Debler, Rose Mary Sarrasin, brothers Allan (Rosemary), David (Evelyn), Cecil (Linda) Davies, and numerous relatives and friends.
Evan joined the RCAF in 1953 and served for 31 years. He then worked for the Department of National Defence as a firefighter until 1995. Evan was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Cumberland Masonic Lodge, and The Saskatoon Shrine Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Evan had a natural affinity for animals and had many cherished pets over the course of his life, including a skunk named Pepe, cats Rusty and Smokey, and a “talking” cocker spaniel named Bear, whom Evan taught to say “mama” on command.
Evan’s family wishes to thank the amazing staff at Pineview Lodge, and especially close friend Sandra Smallboy, who was a comfort to Evan during his last moments on this earth.

No formal service will be held, but all who knew and loved Evan are encouraged to raise a glass of the good stuff in his honour.
